This pair of sculptures highlights two emblematic figures: The Flying Mercury, symbol of movement and lightness, and Fortune, embodiment of prosperity and chance. Inspired by the works of Jean de Bologne, a master of the Renaissance, these pieces illustrate the artist's virtuosity in capturing movement and the finesse of details.  

The Flying Mercury is a representation of the Roman god of commerce and travel, often associated with speed and communication.
This figure embodies the dynamism and grace characteristic of Jean de Bologne's works, a 16th-century sculptor known for his complex compositions and mastery of human forms.  

Fortune, on the other hand, is often depicted with attributes such as a cornucopia and a wheel, symbolizing luck and wealth. This sculpture reflects the 19th century's interest in mythological themes and allegorical figures, reinterpreted through a neoclassical lens.  

The marble bases, adorned with bronze bas-reliefs of the same color as the sculptures, bear the signature of Clodion. This sculptor, active in the 18th century, is renowned for his mythological and ornamental scenes, combining a baroque style with remarkable lightness.  

In very good condition, with some signs of wear corresponding to the age of the pieces.
