Pair of urns in yellow Sainte-Baume marble,
France, 19th century
The urns feature a slender baluster form, directly inspired by antique models revived through Neoclassical taste. Each rests on a moulded square base and is topped with a lid surmounted by a carved finial. Small rectangular side handles, sober and architectural in design, articulate the composition and enhance the overall elegance of the pair.
The marble is distinguished by its warm ochre and ivory tones, animated by bold grey-brown veining, giving the pieces a strong decorative presence.
Good overall condition, with an even aged patina.
Minor chips visible on the lids.
Dimensions:
– Height: 32 cm
– Square base: 8 × 8 cm
