Green Opaline Bottle With A Gold-plated Mount, Chinese-style Design – Charles X Period
Green opaline bottle with a gold-plated mount, Chinese-style design – Charles X period
Cylindrical in shape with a rounded shoulder, it features a substantial openwork mount decorated with scrollwork, foliage, and symmetrical motifs, revealing the luminous color of the opaline.
The neck is richly adorned with chiseled friezes and topped by a hinged lid, whose knob depicts a seated Chinese figure holding a drum in one hand and a chopstick in the other. This chinoiserie decoration, popular in the decorative arts of the early 19th century, gives this rare model its distinctive character.
The bottle has retained its inner glass stopper with a faceted knob.
Condition: Good overall condition. Original patina and wear on the gilding of the mount. Small surface marks on the opaline, visible in the photographs. Inner stopper preserved.
