Small Antique Hardstone Cameo—female Profile In The Classical Style—late 18th Century, Early 19th Century
A charming little oval hardstone cameo, slightly curved, depicting a female profile turned to the right, in the neoclassical style.
The face, finely carved in relief from a light-colored material, stands out against a translucent gray-brown background. The abundant hair, held in place by a wreath of foliage, is particularly well-crafted, as are the folds of the garment.
A lovely small piece with pronounced relief and delicate carving.
Condition: Good overall condition. Fine lines with a cracked appearance are visible in the stone, particularly on the bust and the background. They are not perceptible to the touch. Visible natural marks and inclusions.
