Silver-plated Crown Of The Virgin Mary With Colored Glass - Spain (?) - Early 20th Century
A former crown from a religious statue, likely intended for a statue of the Virgin Mary, made of silver-plated metal and adorned with engraved plant motifs and openwork fleurons.
Four arches edged with metal beads converge on a globe surmounted by a fleur-de-lis cross. The piece is embellished with colored glass stones in red, green, blue, and purple.
A handwritten inscription engraved on the inside of the band reads “Recuerdo de Rosita ... ,” followed by a name that is difficult to decipher and the date March 17, 1902. This inscription in Spanish suggests a memento or a dedication.
No hallmark identified.
Condition: Good vintage condition, with patina, wear on the silver plating, and oxidation. A few stones are missing. The globe’s mounting system is incomplete (missing screw). See photographs.
