Art Deco Car Ornament, Egyptian-style Winged Sphinx Made Of Regule With A Bronze Patina, Circa 1925–1935
A bronze-patinated automotive ornament, depicting an Egyptian-inspired winged sphinx, likely made in the 1920s or 1930s.
The figure features a human head wearing the traditional pharaonic nemes headdress, combined with a lion’s body. Two large, stylized wings—richly molded and ending in scrollwork—frame the figure.
The treatment of the subject is part of the Egyptian-inspired style that was particularly popular during the Art Deco period.
The sculpture rests on a circular base designed to be attached to a car radiator cap. The underside retains its central mounting mechanism, featuring a threaded rod approximately 6 mm in diameter, as well as two small symmetrical holes that may correspond to sockets for centering pins.
Beautiful antique bronze patina, showing signs of age.
