Important Engraving : The Trocadéro Palace During The 1878 Paris World's Fair
This elevation of the facade is based on a drawing by Mr. Hubert Clerget, which in turn was based on a watercolor by Messrs. Davioud and Bourdais, the monument’s architects.
The Palais du Trocadéro was built on Chaillot Hill (16th arrondissement of Paris) for the 1878 World’s Fair. A competition to design a large venue for meetings and events was launched in 1876 and won by architects Gabriel Davioud (1824–1881) and Jules Bourdais (1835–1915). Its eclectic style draws inspiration from Moorish and Neo-Byzantine architecture.
It was not intended to outlast the event, but it ultimately stood until 1935, when it was dismantled.
This engraving on paper is presented in a later frame.
