Dagger Of Virtue, Romantic Period, Circa 1830–40 – 27 Cm
A defensive dagger used by prostitutes, more colloquially known as
“ball-piercer.” It features a straight blade with a hexagonal cross-section. The edges
are curved, increasing blood loss. The hexagonal blade made it
ten times more effective and resulted in wounds that were difficult to heal.
Split handle, with one side reattached. The blade is in excellent condition—
with original sheath.
Total length 27.2 – blade length 15.2 – blade width at widest point
1.4 cm.
