Medallion By étienne-germain Ragoneau (1808–?) – Circa 1850
Étienne-Germain Ragoneau, born in Auxerre in 1808, worked in Paris. He was a student of David d'Angers.
He specialized in working with limestone, plaster, and stearin (used to imitate ivory or sea foam, as is the case with our medallion).
His works focus primarily on two major themes:
religious art (medallions or statuettes depicting Christ and the Virgin Mary) and Romanticism—for example, *Faust*.
In good condition, with a gilded bronze band.
