Lc4 Chaise Longue By Le Corbusier, Jeanneret, And Perriand, Cassina, Black Leather

Artist: Le Corbusier

◼ HISTORY & DESIGN
Continuously adjustable lounge chair, model LC4, designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, and presented at the 1929 Salon d'Automne. Originally produced by Thonet under the model number B306, it has been manufactured by Cassina since 1965. The bent steel tube frame rests freely on a separate base: the recline is achieved by simply sliding the seat, without any mechanism, according to the principle of the “resting machine” formulated by Le Corbusier.

◼ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Manufacturer: Cassina.
Markings: numbered engraving No. 68799 accompanied by the Le Corbusier® signature on the chrome-plated tube; metal fasteners for the suspension straps stamped “Cassina.”
Frame: chrome-plated steel tubing; black lacquered steel base on glides.
Upholstery: mattress and headrest cushion in black grained leather; leather support strap with buckle.
Dimensions (manufacturer’s measurements): W 160 × D 56.4 × H 69 cm in the reclined position; height varies depending on the angle of recline.

◼ CONDITION REPORT (Transparence Galerie)
Leather in excellent condition: supple, clean, with no tears, cuts, or cracks; natural comfort creases. Chrome plating in very good condition, shiny, with no pitting or chipping, fine signs of use on the surface. Slight wear on the edge of the headrest strap. Lacquered base in good condition; all four glides present. Light patina from use, no major damage.
