Ivory-toned Coffee Table With Three Swiveling Trays, Maria Pergay, Circa 1970

◼ HISTORY & DESIGN

A circular coffee table consisting of three stacked tabletops that rotate 180° around a central cylindrical axis, allowing the piece to fan out. Each tray, with an ivory-toned surface, is edged with a thick band of polished chrome-plated metal; the entire piece rests on a base of flat, rectangular-section legs.

This model is associated with a design by Maria Pergay published by Maison Mercier Frères, a Parisian manufacturer founded in the 19th century and active until 1985, under the reference Design/One, circa 1968. This period piece comes from a private French collection that held two examples. As no markings were found, the piece is listed as “attributed to,” in accordance with Decree No. 81-255 of March 3, 1981.
