"executive" Office Chair By Charles Pollock For Knoll, Historic Edition (gray Fabric)
The Les Merciers Gallery is pleased to present an absolute icon of modernist design: the "Executive" office chair, designed in 1963 by Charles Pollock and produced by Knoll International.
The architectural genius of this chair lies in its famous “Rim”: an ingenious chrome-plated extruded aluminum band that supports and visually structures the entire shell while also serving as a bumper. The upholstered seat is presented here in a superb original gray heathered fabric finish. This version adds a warm, textured, and particularly luminous touch, offering a soft and very contemporary alternative to classic black leather, without losing any of its stately allure.
This is a historic edition that is particularly prized by collectors. This model sits on its original four-spoke star-shaped base with casters and features a fixed-height design without an adjustment lever, ensuring the original purity of the lines intended by the designer. The chair swivels freely 360 degrees, offering exceptional ergonomic support.
Condition and Authenticity (Gallery Transparency):A collector’s item must be rigorously authenticated: this armchair is an authentic piece certified by the “Knoll International” stamp, directly embossed into the frame beneath the seat.
The piece is in excellent vintage condition. The gray fabric seat is clean and free of any tears. The chrome-plated aluminum trim has a brilliant shine. The textured black polypropylene back shell has a light patina and a few tiny scuff marks inherent to normal office use, attesting to its authenticity without compromising the piece’s perfect integrity.
