Shuttle-shaped Bowl, Circa 1820, Made Of Patinated Bronze Gilded With Mercury, On A Marble Base
Antique shuttle-shaped bowl (circa 1820) made of bronze with a dark patina and mercury-gilded bronze. The oval bowl, with its undulating rim, features a richly chiseled decoration of godrons and acanthus scrolls with a deep brown patina. It rests on four rocaille legs in gilded bronze that provide an elegant contrast, and the entire piece is mounted on a rectangular base of veined black marble. This refined work of art, with its beautiful decorative presence, will naturally find its place as a centerpiece or trinket dish on a period piece of furniture.
