Pair Of Tazza Bowls In Gilded Bronze And Alabaster, Empire Style, Napoleon III Period, Cassolettes

A vintage pair of gilded bronze Tazza cups resting on white alabaster bases.
French work from the Second Empire period, in the style of the early 19th century.

Characterized by great architectural simplicity, these bowls adopt the ancient form of the tazza, which was very fashionable during the First Empire. The circular bowls, decorated with godrons, are accented by a beaded frieze and feature two openwork, coiled handles, delicately chased with water leaves.
They rest on a fluted gilded bronze pedestal, which in turn is mounted on an alabaster base

The combination of gilded bronze and alabaster lends the ensemble a timeless elegance, perfectly representative of the neoclassical taste inspired by antiquity.
These bowls were intended to adorn a mantelpiece.

The original gilding has retained all its luster while displaying a beautiful original patina.
The alabaster is in very good condition, with only slight signs of wear consistent with its age.
