Pair Of Carved Alabaster Medici Vases – Neoclassical Style / Grand Tour – Late 19th Century.
A pair of Medici-style vases in finely carved white alabaster. These decorative pieces, typical of the Neoclassical style and of objects brought back from Italy during the Grand Tour, beautifully capture the light thanks to the natural and characteristic translucency of alabaster.
Each vase features rich relief carving.
A central body encircled by a delicate floral garland carved in high relief.
The lower section is adorned with large, stylized acanthus leaves that wrap around the base of the bowl.
Small side handles are carved in a coiled design.
The entire piece rests on a gadrooned pedestal, which in turn stands on an imposing square-sectioned base, the front of which is embellished with a floral motif in relief.
