Large Carved Wooden Christ — 63 Cm, 17th Century

Large carved wooden Christ figure—probably late 16th or 17th century

Large carved wooden Christ figure, displayed without its cross on a simple metal stand with a square base.

The sculpture depicts Christ with outstretched arms, his head tilted toward his right shoulder. The expressive face, framed by wavy hair and a finely carved beard, underscores the solemnity of the subject. The slender body displays pronounced anatomical detail, while a perizonium with sculpted folds wraps around the hips and falls to the side.

The wood retains an irregular brown patina, deeply marked by the passage of time. The work shows cracks, damage, and missing sections in places, particularly on the hands and feet, as well as traces of restoration and repairs at the joints of the arms. Sold as is, as shown in the photographs.

Sold with its metal display stand.

Dimensions of the Christ figure: height 63 cm; width, with arms outstretched, 50 cm.
