A spirit level marked on the brass cylinder: “Lennel à la Sphère à Paris.” The cylinder rests on a long brass rectangle that allows the level to be placed on a board. The glass tube is fully filled with water. The instrument is therefore in perfect working condition.
Lennel was active in the 1770s and 1780s.
The instrument is preserved in its custom-shaped case.
