Rare equinoctial ring. Signed "N Bion A PARIS", circa 1700, in bronze, composed of meridian and equatorial rings. Latitude engraved with names of European cities alternating with floral motifs. Rotating bridge with a scale of months and zodiac dial adorned with engraved scrolls. Latitude scale graduated from 0 to 90°, readable to the nearest degree. Hour divisions engraved in Arabic script (I to XII x 2). Magnificent instrument signed by Nicolas Bion (1652-1733), engineer to the king for mathematical instruments. Diameter: 9 cm
