The skiascope or ophthalmoscope is an optical instrument used to examine the depths of the eye. This process was invented by a German in the 19th century: Hermann Von Helmholtz. The model presented here is also of German origin and dates from the beginning of the 20th century. Its case is marked with an "Augenspiegel" (eye mirror).
