Charles X Burl Walnut Box Called "tombeau" On Its Four Ball Feet

Although its name "tomb" is not too engaging, it is only because of its shape that it is called that, rest assured! In reality, it is more of a wedding box, for jewelry, for shawls... depending on the size and it is of course already much nicer. This one rests on its four ball feet, it is made of burr walnut and has its key, interior in silk and velvet, steel handle and mother-of-pearl shield. Note, a small lack on the right of the very fine rod that runs along its edge.
