Aesthete's Watercolorist's Box In Bougeois Ainé Wood Marquetry
When the "toolbox" look like this, who would not be tempted to take up watercolor? Indeed this box in rosewood marquetry with trompe l'oeil effect and macassar veneer looks more like a jewelry box but instead of rivers of diamonds, here, "in its own juice" as they say, are arrangements for a watercolor. It comes from the Bourgeois Ainé house (founded in 1867 before merging with Lefranc in the middle of the 20th century) and dates from the end of the 19th century.
