Table Barometer By Carl Fabergé, Master Victor Aarne. Saint Petersburg.

A rare tabletop barometer crafted by master goldsmith Victor Aarne for the prestigious Carl Fabergé house in Saint Petersburg between 1899 and 1904. This work combines, with remarkable harmony, scientific precision, functionality, and the supreme refinement of imperial Russian goldsmithing at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The body is crafted from 88-zolotnik silver and rests on three elegant scalloped feet. It is covered with translucent ruby-red guilloché enamel applied over a guilloché background featuring a wavy pattern. The upper section is adorned with opaque white enamel, protected by a faceted glass cover. The dial displays weather conditions in Russian: “Буря” (Storm), “Дождь” (Rain), “Переменно” (Variable), “Ясно” (Clear), and “Весьма сухо” (Very dry). The entire piece is crowned with a finely chiseled laurel wreath, inspired by the Empire style, which lends the composition its monumental and classical character.
