Landscape With A Pond In The Evening Light. A. Konstantinova, Russia

A remarkable example of Russian landscape painting from the second half of the 19th century, created by the artist A. Konstantinova. The painting depicts a peaceful pond surrounded by fir trees and deciduous trees, reflected in the calm water in the light of the sunset. The composition is constructed with rare harmony and a perfect mastery of atmospheric perspective: the mist on the horizon accentuates the depth, while the golden reflections on the water create an atmosphere of silence and meditation. In the lower right corner is the artist’s signature in Cyrillic: “A. Konstantinova.” The work is executed in the style of Julius von Klever (1850–1924), a master of monumental and poetic Russian landscapes.
