Pair Of Silver Decanters With Rooster Heads. Made By The Grachev Brothers.

PAIR OF SILVER DECANTERS WITH ROOSTER HEADS. MADE BY THE GRACHEV BROTHERS, SUPPLIERS TO THE IMPERIAL COURT. ST. PETERSBURG, 1908–1917

A rare pair of decorative carafes crafted by the Grachev Brothers, Purveyors to the Imperial Court, in St. Petersburg in the early 20th century. The spherical bodies are crafted from colorless crystal and richly adorned with diamond-cut patterns forming a complex geometric design of lozenges, stars, and interlacing facets that beautifully diffuse the light. The silver mounts are executed in a remarkable naturalistic style. The necks take the form of finely chiseled rooster heads, with highly realistic plumage, a crest, eyes, and a beak. The hinged lids are skillfully integrated into the bird’s head and open via a concealed hinge mechanism. The elegant, harmoniously curved silver handles accentuate the refined silhouette of the piece. The combination of remarkable silverwork and high-quality cut crystal illustrates the exceptional craftsmanship of the Grachev brothers’ house and stands as a remarkable testament to Russian decorative arts from the late imperial period.

Hallmarks: Manufacturer’s mark “БР. ГРАЧЕВЫ” beneath the double-headed imperial eagle, attesting to the firm’s status as a Supplier to the Imperial Court. Official Russian hallmark, grade 84. Saint Petersburg, 1908–1917.

Dimensions: Height: 24.5 cm. Width: 17 cm.

Condition Report: In good condition. Slight signs of age and wear consistent with the period. The hinged lids function perfectly. Crystal shows no significant damage.
