An interesting high chair from the Venetian region, dating from the late 17th to the early 18th century, crafted from solid fruitwood.
The tall, slender frame still fully retains its 17th-century style. The backrest consists of two richly carved and openwork crossbars featuring an intricate motif of volutes and stylized leaves.
Particularly beautiful are the finials of the rear posts, carved with large acanthus leaves—a motif characteristic of northern Italian production between the 17th and 18th centuries.
The seat consists of wide wooden planks and rests on four straight, square-sectioned legs connected by crossbars. The front crossbar features an original shaped and openwork geometric motif.
The high chair retains a beautiful antique patina and numerous signs of age and use, which underscore its character and authenticity.
The seat has a crack that can be repaired with a simple conservation treatment. A portion of the seat was replaced at a later date, likely due to wear and tear. There are also some old glue joints, minor irregularities, and normal signs of age.
An interesting example of an early-period chair from Northern Italy, linked to the Venetian tradition between the 17th and 18th centuries.
