The legs are joined by a flowing stretcher forming an elegant scalloped motif, typical of late 17th-century French furniture.
The sturdy structure displays fine carving and a warm patina of aged walnut.
The crossbars and stretcher reveal a design still influenced by the Baroque aesthetic characteristic of Louis XIV's reign.
The seats are upholstered in a floral damask fabric in shades of red, embellished with decorative fringe and a row of upholstery tacks.
The upholstery and fabric are later additions.
