Tenmoku-style Glazed Stoneware Bowl. Made In A French Workshop Around 1960.

A hand-thrown stoneware bowl featuring a stunning glaze with firing effects in shades of brown, black, and ochre.

This ceramic piece features deep black runs and metallic brown hues on a wide, crackled ivory-colored palette, accented by a vibrant reddish-brown border.

The interior design, resulting from the natural reactions of the glazes during firing, evokes the Taoist symbol of Yin and Yang, giving this piece a remarkable graphic and contemplative presence with a beautiful firing effect that produces a Tenmoku-style glaze.

The bowl rests on a circular unglazed foot and bears a workshop mark incised beneath the base.

No definitive attribution can be made, but the quality of the glazes suggests a French workshop production from the second half of the 20th century and is reminiscent of certain pieces from La Puysaye or La Borne.
