Imari Porcelain Cup With A Gilded Bronze Base Featuring Elephants—meiji Period / Napoleon III

An elegant and rare bowl (20 cm in diameter) combining a Japanese Arita porcelain dish with a remarkable European mount in chased and gilded bronze, dating from the late 19th century.

The porcelain, from the Meiji era (circa 1880), features rich *Kinrande*-style decoration in a traditional palette of underglaze cobalt blue, iron red, and gold highlights.

The central well displays a refined composition of flower-filled vases, peonies, and prunus branches radiating within alternating geometric cartouches.

On the reverse, the piece bears a handwritten signature in overglaze iron red (cursive script; export-style Kanji associated with Arita workshops/the Fukagawa school).

The gilded bronze mount—likely of Parisian origin—is of exceptional quality and emblematic of the *Japonisme* movement.

Each foot is formed by a stylized elephant head.

This bowl is exquisitely decorative and reflects the European fascination with Far Eastern art during the late 19th century.

Dimensions: diameter 22 cm, height 7.5 cm.

The object is in perfect condition, retaining its beautiful original gilding.
