Art Nouveau Glazed Stoneware Vase, Eugène Baudin, Saint Briac. Circa 1900–1906
A very elegant glazed stoneware vase by Eugène Baudin, made in his studio in Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, circa 1900–1906.
Ovoid in shape, this vase features a remarkable relief floral design, enhanced by a superb glaze in shades of celadon green, olive green, and brown, with beautiful textural effects and glaze runs characteristic of the ceramic experimentation of the Art Nouveau period.
The piece is a particularly fine example of Eugène Baudin’s work during his Breton period in Saint-Briac, a brief and highly sought-after phase in his career.
