Venetian Neo-renaissance Table In Painted Polychrome Wood With Musicians Monkeys – 19th Century
Elegant Venetian Renaissance-style side table, crafted in painted and polychrome wood, dating from the late 19th or very early 20th century.
The piece is distinguished by the remarkable richness of its hand-painted decoration, featuring scrolling foliage, arabesques, vegetal motifs and grotesques, animated by musicians, birds and fantastical animals, in a sophisticated decorative style directly inspired by the Italian Renaissance.
The shaped and serpentine-edged tabletop displays a particularly refined composition enhanced with numerous polychrome ornaments. The lower shelf, also richly decorated, echoes the vegetal motifs of the tabletop and contributes to the overall harmony of the piece.
The gracefully curved and sculptural legs further enhance its theatrical Venetian character.
The table retains a beautiful aged patina, with signs of wear consistent with its age, contributing to its authenticity and charm. The rich and unusual painted decoration is unquestionably the principal attraction of this exceptional piece.
