PLP: A sculptural glazed earthenware pitcher created by Michel Alexandrov, known as Allix, a leading figure in the revival of Vallauris ceramics in the 1950s. This piece stands out for its highly graphic silhouette, its wide, arched handle, and its two opposing spouts. The incised geometric design, accented with turquoise-green glazes on a slightly crackled white background, is characteristic of Allix’s work.The work is incised with the artist’s signature beneath the base. Dimensions: Width: 27 cm; Depth: 19 cm; Height: 18 cm. Condition: Very good original condition. No restoration. Beautiful fired glaze with a light patina from use. A former student of the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Michel Alexandrov settled in Vallauris in 1945, where he developed his own line of decorative ceramics featuring original forms and geometric designs. He played an active role in promoting Vallauris ceramics and was notably awarded the silver medal at the Cannes International Ceramics Festival in 1955. �
