Secretary-cabinet In Rosewood Veneer. Parisian Work From The Faubourg Saint-antoine.
An elegant combination writing desk and cabinet, veneered in rosewood with a herringbone pattern, resting on cabriole legs ending in bronze sabots. The front features: Two tambour doors in the upper section, revealing an interior fitted with shelves and small drawers. A drawer in the middle section opens to reveal a drop-front writing surface, containing two secret drawers, one on each side. Two tambour doors in the lower section open to a storage compartment. The piece is topped with a pinkish breccia marble and adorned with bronze mounts. This model is an exact replica of a writing desk made around 1770 by Roger Vandercruse, known as Lacroix (RVLC), an example of which is held in the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
