"allegory Of Abundance With Two Putti," Oil On Canvas, Mid-18th Century
A charming and delicate oil on canvas from the mid-18th century depicting two puttiwith wings moving through a celestial, cloud-filled composition. One of the cherubs, adorned with a flowing brick-red drape, makes a graceful gesture toward the sky, while the second, wrapped in a deep blue cloth, pours out the precious contents of a cornucopia (or jar), releasing a shower of coins or jewels. This iconography, a classical allegory of Prosperity and Fortune, is typical of the Rococo and late Baroque decorative repertoire.
