Antique wooden oratory with a carved figure of Christ – 18th century
An imposing antique oratory made of molded natural wood, opening at the bottom with two paneled doors and topped by a slanted flap.
The upper section, architecturally designed and crowned with a curved pediment, features a beautiful wooden sculpture of Christ on the cross, set against a backdrop of antique fabric with a floral pattern. The figure of Christ is an integral part of the oratory.
Beautiful antique patina. The piece shows signs of age, wear, cracks, small missing sections, and previous restorations. A missing section is particularly visible on one of Christ’s hands.
Provincial work, likely from the 18th century.
