"Christ 18th Century"

Large Christ in its wooden frame carved in boxwood, 17th century This large corpus in superb condition presents all the characteristics of the French style with measured expressionism. The slightly tilted head, the face as if asleep inscribed in curly hair, the closed eyes and the open mouth contribute to this impression of appeasement. The perizonium does not show baroque flights but on the contrary a learned work of drapery with cupped pleats. The appeased anatomy is nevertheless served by a powerful construction which gives this Christ a monumental character. The face of Christ second quarter of the 17th century, some accident to be notified missing on the fingers and other trace of polychromy still very distinct gilded wooden frame. frame dimension 72 cm x48 cm christ 40 cm x 25 cm
