Pewter pitcher with a flared base, a straight-sided cup, and a thumb rest with tassels.
Hallmark: Crowned C / 39 / R,
Hallmark of Claude DUFLOS, who became a master craftsman around 1734, stamped on the lid and on the outer bottom: two quadrupeds / C.D.S. Height: 28.7 cm.
"La Pinte" measuring cup capacity: 1.82 liters
ROUEN, Between 1739 and 1741.
A very rare, larger-sized measure from the Rouen series in perfect condition, featuring excellent material quality and finish in a beautiful, solid cast iron piece, typical of those produced by this foundry during the first half of the 18th century.
The hallmarks in Rouen were regularly updated, which often allows for precise dating, as is the case here. Indeed, the hallmark from the year 1741 is known, which helps narrow down the date.
