Very Rare Small Pitcher - Switzerland, XVIII Th C.

Artist: Maître L.s

Very small pewter PITCHER in truncated cone shape, truncated cone cup and thumb with two buds.
Maker's mark not identified by the authors cited below: crowned hammer / two stars / L.S.
Height: 10.3 cm.
VALAIS (SITTEN ?), Mid-18th century

Repair to the lid visible on several photos.
Extremely rare, very small size, intended for gauging alcohols. The only observation over the last fifty years of this small gauge... The great rarity of these small pitchers can be explained by the fact that, on the one hand, they were produced in smaller numbers and, on the other hand, very small objects are lost more often than large ones.
Bibliography:
"Die Zinngiesser der Schweiz und ihre Marken" by Schneider and Kneuss who reproduce this hallmark under the reference 1482
