By Georges PULL (1810-1889)
Large circular CUP with heel, in glazed earthenware with polychrome decoration and lead glaze of six human masks inscribed in trilobed medallions surrounded by fleurons arranged around a central rosette motif. The rim is decorated with friezes of leaves and florets. Green speckled reverse.
Diameter: 30 cm.
Hollow mark: Pull
Circa 1870
A chip is reported on the heel but the cup is in perfect condition, none of the florets on the periphery nor any of the openwork is damaged.
This artist's activity as a ceramist only really began around 1850.
These productions in the style of Bernard PALISSY are highly appreciated because of their quality of casting, enamels and glaze, to the point that they are often confused with the works of his Renaissance model.
