A pewter pitcher known as a “Stegkanne,” baluster-shaped with a long spout featuring a flap connected to the neck by a molded arm; the lid is topped with a man’s head and a curved thumb rest. It is adorned with a fine and beautiful engraving of a coat of arms accompanied by a plumed helmet.
Hallmark of Kaspar STADLIN, active from 1786: unicorn / bear / STADLIN.

This model with a long tubular spout originated in the Netherlands in the 15th century and is often depicted in Dutch still lifes of the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries.
