Beautiful pewter ewer with a horizontal groove, an almost cylindrical body with a circular, undulating foot and a spout in the shape of a shell. It has a fluted handle with a draped and scrolled crook and is decorated with a coat of arms featuring a black heart with arrows and flames, flanked by two roses and two stars in chief, all within a vegetal wreath bearing the initials IFM. Round hallmark with beading of Nicolas I RICHARD, received as a master before 1700: crescent / crowned hammer / N.R. Height: 23.8 cm.
BESANÇON, First half of the 18th century.
In very good condition, a few minor dents are noted.
This could be the coat of arms of the Fournier family of Laon in Picardy.
