A significant, large-scale polychrome majolica centerpiece of refined decorative quality, crafted in Faenza by the Farina Manufactory and dating to around 1880.

The piece features lavish Neo-Renaissance decoration set against a dark background, characterized by elegant grotesque motifs—including small figures, putti, grotesque masks, foliage, scrolls, cornucopias, and fantastical animals—reflecting the historicist taste of Faenza production in the second half of the 19th century.

The intricate composition is embellished with figurative and landscape panels interspersed with ornamental details, creating a visually striking effect. The vessel's form—featuring four shaped feet and substantial zoomorphic side handles—gives the centerpiece a sculptural, monumental presence.

Its vibrant color palette, meticulous painting, and complex ornamentation demonstrate a desire to evoke the great tradition of Italian Renaissance majolica through the lens of 19th-century decorative style.

The underside bears the characteristic mark of an "F" within a six-pointed star, accompanied by the inscription "FAENZA" and the date "1880."
