Two Antique Walnut Sideboards – Louis Philippe Style, Piedmont, 1830–1850
An elegant pair of Louis-Philippe-era sideboards, made in Piedmont, dating from between 1830 and 1850, crafted entirely from walnut.
The pieces are distinguished by their simple and elegant lines, their contoured tops with rounded corners, and the beautiful natural grain of the walnut.
Each piece features a drawer in the upper section and a door below. The drawers open via a convenient recess cut into the lower part of the front panel, while the doors retain their original wrought-iron locks.
Particular attention has been paid to the construction: even the back panels and the interior linings of the drawers are made of walnut, a detail that attests to the quality of the craftsmanship.
The cabinets were restored in our workshop, with a focus on enhancing the wood and preserving its original characteristics.
Both pieces feature doors that open to the right. This feature sets them apart from the typical pair of nightstands with mirror-image openings. They can, however, be used as nightstands or as decorative sideboards for an entryway, living room, or study.
