Pierre Vandel is a French designer born in 1939 in Roubaix, near Lille. He studied industrial design and worked in research teams at prestigious engineering schools in Paris such as Ponts et Chaussées and Arts et Métiers.
In the 1970s, Vandel became known for his glamorous and minimalist corner tables, very representative of the French aesthetic of that period. His furniture often combined materials such as aluminum, lacquered wood, plexiglass with brass details and smoked or transparent glass tops.
In 1969, he founded his own studio and formed a decisive collaboration with the famous fashion designer Pierre Cardin, who helped him launch the brand "Pierre Vandel - Paris" and introduce his creations to French high society and international markets such as New York, London, Melbourne and Tokyo.
