Metello Merlo (Milan, 1886 – Turin, 1964) was an Italian painter active in Turin; he initially trained under his father, Camillo, and later studied with Vittorio Cavalleri and Andrea Tavernier. His body of work is primarily rooted in the Piedmontese figurative and naturalistic tradition—with a particular fondness for landscape painting—though he also devoted himself to figurative subjects and still lifes.
He was a regular participant in exhibitions organized by the *Società Promotrice delle Belle Arti* in Turin, as well as major national events such as the Turin Quadriennale, the Rome Quadriennale, and the Premio Bergamo. His painting style, initially more descriptive, gradually evolved toward a greater synthesis of forms and a distinct focus on light and color.
Today, he is recognized as a representative of 20th-century Piedmontese figurative painting, with works featured in the art market and private collections.
