Paul Nadar produced several famous portraits of Émile Zola, immortalizing the leading figure of Naturalism at the height of his fame. Beyond the relationship between the photographer and his subject, Zola was himself an avid photographer who purchased his equipment directly from the Atelier Nadar shop. This technical and artistic partnership brought together one of the greatest writers of the 19th century and one of the capital’s most renowned photography studios.
