A finely hand-knotted Kashan rug made of kork wool from the mid-20th century, circa 1940–1960.
This rug measures 132 cm wide by 202 cm long, with 360,000 knots per square meter.

The central motif, featuring two prominent pendants, depicts a large, stylized, blooming flower.
It is surrounded by numerous other flowers covering the field.
The border, composed of varied motifs—peonies, palmettes, and alternating foliage—is inspired by antique Herat designs.
The rug is in good overall condition; the pile is clean, though a small area shows some wear,
the selvedges show slight signs of age,
and the fringes are short.

The overall condition is good; there is no loss of pile,
and the fine kork wool used is of the highest quality.
The colors are fresh, with no fading, and have not been bleached by sunlight.
The color palette consists mainly of various shades of blue and wine-red tones.

Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): a major city in central Iran.
During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center of production for carpets of legendary splendor.
Finely woven carpets, with exceptionally rich compositions, were knotted by the royal workshop of Shah Abbas.
They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections.
Carpet production in Kashan ceased between the Afghan invasion (1722) and the end of the 19th century.
The revival of carpet production began with carpets distinguished by the superior quality of their wool, which gives them an extremely velvety appearance.
These pieces are called Kashan Motashemi, named after the most famous master weaver of the late 19th century.
The designs are varied and meticulously crafted: hunting scenes, figurative motifs inspired by Persian mythology, birds set against a botanical backdrop, and trees of life.
Thanks to the superior quality of the wool, their tight knotting, and the beauty of their natural colors and designs,
Kashan rugs have earned their place among the finest Persian rugs.

This rug has been professionally cleaned using eco-friendly methods.
