Gashghaï rug with a central ethnic medallion decorated with four kotshaks (pairs of horns),
a fine 20th century model circa 1980 in perfect condition
Measuring 156 cm wide by 244 cm long, made of quality wool on wool.
The velvet, selvages and bangs in raw wool are all in perfect condition and originate from Iran.
The rust, midnight blue, orange and ivory colors of the field provide a luminous contrast with the midnight blue background.
The beautifully complex design receives a very distinctive medallion revealing numerous stylized tribal and plant motifs.
The border is composed of large stylized flowers on an ivory, buff and orange background .
The mixed-hair bangs are in good condition, and often include wool from goats, sheep, camels and horsehair.
These mixtures are found in most ethnic rugs from Iran, Central Asia and the Caucasus...
The bright, soft wool colors contrast with the light, indigot, white, pink, orange, blue and red of all the patterns laid on the darker field, provoking a striking, luminous contrast.
These rugs are essentially dyed with natural, mineral and vegetable products.
The intricate design features numerous tribal motifs and other stylized vegetal motifs that are always found on these rugs.
