Sarough Rug, 132 X 202 Cm, Hand-knotted Kork Wool From Iran, Circa 1930, In Very Good Condition

Artist: Art D'iran
A heavy and comfortable Persian Sarouk rug from Iran.
This rug measures 132 cm wide by 202 cm long.
In very good condition.
An antique rug featuring a beautiful pile and an intricate design, with restored short fringes and selvages in fair but sturdy condition; pieces dating from the 1930s.
A very durable piece.
It features beautiful colors, primarily ivory, apricot, almond green, blues, buff, wine-colored, and red.
The entire wine-colored field, covered with flowers and arabesques, features a cruciform medallion set off to great effect, accompanied by two small pendants shaped like halberds or fleurs-de-lis and four spandrels.
The intricate border is particularly well-executed.
The hues are fresh, and the thick, soft pile is in perfect condition.

This rug is a beautiful, decorative, and comfortable piece; its design is abundant and magnificently rendered, and the Kork wool is of the highest quality.
The Sarough, or Sarouk, carpet—named after Ecbatana in antiquity—is knotted in a few villages near Sarouk in the agricultural region of Arak.
European buying houses have maintained agencies there since the mid-19th century.
Most of these rugs are referred to as “Hamadan” by dealers, particularly the transit rugs knotted in this region.
These Persian rugs remain very popular in the United States, where interior designers appreciate the heavy, substantial, and luxurious wool pieces.
These rugs are highly resistant to foot traffic.

Dimensions: Width: 132 cm (52") x Length: 202 cm (79")
This rug has been professionally cleaned using eco-friendly methods.
