Persian Hériz rug, Iranian Azerbaijan circa 1930, Art Deco period in good used condition.
Heavy and dense, a very comfortable rug when you like thick, traditional rugs. In highland wool, hand-knotted, natural colors for an ethnic rug with approximately 250,000 knots per m².
This rug has beautiful shades of color, developed over time, red tending to faded red, midnight blue, ivory, lighter blues, which makes it very luminous.
The red field features a very ornate decoration of palm leaves and stylized flowers.
The whole surrounded by a border of large stylized flowers, the most beautiful effect on a blue background.
The ivory delimiting the border and the palms adds a lot to the reading and beauty of the carpet.
The bangs are full, short and clean. The whole is harmonious and is in very good condition.
The Hériz enjoy an excellent reputation like other rugs in the Hériz family.
From the small town of Heriz which is located about fifty kilometers east of Tabriz, with its neighbor Ghorovan, come some of the most easily recognizable (by their geometry) Persian carpets.
Mainly in the design of medallion or not, on a red or brick background color, the curvi-linear designs so typical of Persia have no place in the Heriz carpet. The designs are completely angular, the closest features to the Caucasus are not far to the north.
These woven, colorful rugs are very durable and make ideal decor for large rooms.
This rug has been professionally and eco-friendly cleaned.
