Gashghai rug decorated with an ethnic medallion, beautiful small model from the middle of the 20th century around 1950, measuring, 47cm wide by 54cm long, in high quality wool on wool, from Iran in very good condition.
Impeccable velvet and edges. The wine and ivory colors of the field give a luminous contrast with the midnight blue background. The design of a beautiful complexity receives a medallion bordered by stairs revealing many tribal and stylized plant motifs. The border is composed of carnation flowers and stylized insects. The mixed hair fringes are in good condition, they often include goat, sheep, camel, horsehair wool. These mixtures are found in most ethnic rugs from Iran, Central Asia and the Caucasus. The muted colors of a shiny and soft wool contrast with the clear, indigot, white, pink, orange, blue, red of all the patterns placed on the darker field, causing a striking and luminous contrast. These rugs are essentially dyed with natural products, minerals and plants.
